About

I am research associate with the Children’s Environment Research Group (CERG), Ph.D candidate in Human Development at the Graduate Center, City University of New York and adjunct lecturer in College of Staten Island and Brooklyn College. I received both my B.A. and M.A. from Ankara University in Turkey. My research interests concern civic engagement and political participation among children and young people with an emphasis on how their development is influenced by their social interactions through different activities within different sociocultural contexts. Currently, I am especially interested in the ways parents and children use interactive digital media, more specifically, visual narratives as a function of their specific social, economical and cultural contexts.

I was born in the gray capital of Turkey, Ankara in 1987. I spent maybe the most beautiful days of my life, in Kemaliye where my parents are originally from. I have always been influenced by my dad’s passionate life history, my mom’s strength, and my brother’s intellectual capacity. I fell in love with Z. when I was 23 years old. I moved to New York when I was 24. I occasionally sing in a band named Little T&A.
